Only 70 km away from Madrid, imperial Toledo emerges toward the sky of Castilla surrounded by the Tagus river. The whole town is a National Monument: the houses, the streets, the churches, the palaces, its treasures and artisan products, like the famous 'Damasquinado' (gold and silver inlaying in iron).
Toledo is one of the oldest towns in Europe, called 'city of the three cultures', since Christians, Muslims and Jews lived together. Its genuine Spanish buildings include most ofl the periods in the history (Arab, Gothic, Mudejar, Renaissance and Baroque style). The great painter El Greco lived here in the XVI century.
Back in Madrid, this extensive tour will give you a very accurate view of the city. During approx. 3 hours, we'll see the most important buildings, avenues and squares. During the different historical periods the city has grown from the old Habsburg and Bourbons quarters to the present day city: Gran Via, Plaza de Espana, University, Moncloa, Habsburg old quarter, calle Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Puerta de Alcala, the Bullring, Columbus square, paseo de la Castellana and the Real Madrid stadium Santiago Bernabeu, plaza de Castilla, fountain of Cibeles.
